How to Make an Orchard
Here’s a simple guide for creating an orchard in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Take a look to discover an important tip for growing trees! I hope this helps you 💖 Happy island designing!
To start, you’ll want to work with a clear, flat area. The size depends on how big you want your orchard to be — mine will be a 5x5 grid.
Once you’ve chosen your plot of land, it’s helpful to dig a few holes to get the spacing right.
Fruit tree saplings will only grow if they have two squares of free space on all sides. You can make a denser orchard by planting full grow trees, which only need one square of free space around them.
Now that all the trees and fruit are planted, I want to lay out some paths between the columns to make it really look like an orchard. I’m using the two standard dirt paths and a custom one, and I’m only laying them down part way because I’ll pick the one I like best once the trees are fully grown.

After looking at all the paths, I think I like the dark dirt path best because it’s got a bit of a warm orange hue to it.
For some final touches, I’m making a little seating area to the south next to the beach using a couple of log benches in orange wood, the dark dirt path, and a few hardwood trees.
And here’s the finished orchard!
